We all know that over time, gravity takes its toll. Add the inflation and deflation of breasts after childbirth, and many women have breasts which (for lack of a better word) sag. This sag is called ptosis. Breast ptosis can be corrected with cosmetic breast surgery. There a few variations on the breast lift (mastopexy) which will be tailored to the woman based on the degree of ptosis, the volume of breast, the skin quality and the age of the patient. In a mastopexy most of the breast volume is retained but the breast mound is repositioned back to it’s normal location on the chest and the skin envelope is tightened. This procedure not only significantly improves the appearance of the breasts, but it will also sometimes improve mild back pain and discomfort.
